Maud Paul founded her design studio in 2022 in Maastricht, and is now based in Bruxelles.
Born in France in 1998, Maud moved to the Netherlands to pursue her studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. She graduated there with a diploma in art & design in 2021. The same year she followed an enriching internship and settled in Maastricht to work for Valentin Loellmann design studio where she could further explore her skills before joining the furniture designer Lukas Cober, assisting him in his workshop until spring 2024.
As a designer and craftswoman, Maud sculpts with materials such as steel and textiles. Her constant research
evolves her process, shaping immersive atmospheres within objects like armchairs and sofas.
Maud’s design aims to cocoon the body, providing support and comfort while simultaneously stimulating the senses. She explores the harmonious coexistence of materials, like metal and wool, to elevate each other's strengths. Metal brings structure, while wool adds warmth, creating a dynamic balance between durability and comfort.
Highlighting clean and linear figures, Maud reflects the precision and clarity of her design philosophy : no more noise or distraction from the outside world to reach a better serenity.
Handmade traces are visible yet polished, revealing a reassuring history, a truth. This emphasizes the elegance and functionality of her creations, allowing focus on the essence of the work and reaching a deeper inner peaceful feeling.
